CAD Data Security

How Uretyco treats CAD files, drawings, project notes, supplier access, retention, and manufacturing data security in practical terms.

Overview

CAD files can contain commercially sensitive product information. Uretyco treats manufacturing data as project data used to analyze, quote, source, produce, inspect, and deliver custom parts. Access should be limited to the systems, team members, and manufacturing partners needed for the order workflow.

What data may be uploaded

  • CAD models, mesh files, DXF files, technical drawings, assemblies, reference images, and notes.
  • Project information such as quantity, material, finish, delivery deadline, use case, and special requirements.
  • Contact, company, billing, delivery, and communication information needed to support the order.

Practical security model

AreaUretyco approach
Access limitationProject data should be available only to people and partners who need it for quoting, production, inspection, or support.
Supplier sharingSuppliers receive the minimum project information needed to evaluate or produce the part.
Revision clarityCurrent production files should be separated from obsolete uploads to reduce wrong-file risk.
RetentionData retention should support orders, repeat quotes, legal obligations, and customer requests according to applicable policy.
Deletion requestsPersonal data requests should follow the published privacy and rights process where applicable.

Customer responsibilities

  • Do not upload files you are not authorized to share.
  • Remove unnecessary sensitive information from drawings when it is not needed for manufacturing.
  • Mark confidentiality, export-control, regulated-use, or supplier restrictions before quote review.
  • Use clear revisions so obsolete files are not mistaken for production files.

CAD data vs personal data

Many CAD files are business or technical data, but some project information can include personal data, such as names, contact details, addresses, account activity, or communication content. Privacy rights and notices apply to personal data according to the relevant policy pages.

FAQ

  • Will every supplier see my CAD file? Supplier access should be limited to quote or production need.
  • Can I request extra confidentiality handling? State the requirement before quoting so Uretyco can review feasibility.
  • Can CAD files be deleted? Deletion and retention depend on account, order, legal, and policy requirements.
