C932 (SAE 660) is the workhorse leaded tin bronze for bushings and bearings. Lead inclusions give it inherent self-lubricating behavior; the high tin content gives it strong wear resistance under load.
Mechanical and physical properties
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Tensile strength | 240 MPa |
| Yield strength | 125 MPa |
| Elongation at break | 10% |
| Density | 8.93 g/cm³ |
| Hardness | ~65 HRB |
| Machinability rating | 70 |
Typical applications
- Plain bearings and bushings.
- Thrust washers and gear blanks.
- Pump and valve components.
- Marine drive components.
Lubrication note
Even with self-lubricating leaded bronze, design for grease or oil where loads exceed 10 MPa or sliding speed exceeds 1 m/s.
