C360 is the free-cutting brass alloy. Lead content (~3 percent) gives it the highest machinability rating of any metal — it is the reference 100 percent in the Brass Machinability Index. It is the default for fittings, hardware, and fasteners that need not be food contact.

Lead content notes
C360 contains lead. For potable water and food contact use C46400 (naval brass) or DZR brass; both are free of restricted lead in EU regulations.
